Police will step up patrols and visit known offenders in a month long crack down on criminal damage and the theft from vehicles.

Officers from the Mile Cross, Catton and Fiddlewood safer neighbourhood team are targeting those responsible during Operation Badstuber.

The operation, which runs throughout July, will include high visibility patrols to identify those causing trouble and use enforcement to deter and prevent further incidents. Officers will also targetting the areas which have seen the most offences.

The team will hold a crime prevention event on July 3 between 11am and 3pm at The Norman Centre, Bignold Road, Norwich.

Insp Mark Haddow said: 'Members of the team will be on hand at the event to offer any advice that local residents need about security and crime prevention. There will also be the opportunity for the community to get their property security marked.

'Over recent months there has been an increase in the amount of criminal damage to vehicles and theft from vehicles.

'Therefore we feel it is an appropriate time to target those responsible. The local community can feel reassured that we are taking positive action by carrying out Operation Badstuber and holding the security marking event.'
