They are facing heartache that few people could even imagine.
But with dignity and courage, a young Norfolk family continues its selfless and inspirational efforts to help others coping with similar challenges.
Kyra Welch and Kieron Griffin, both 21, held a horse ride and dog show at Sly's Farm, North Creake, near Fakenham, yesterday to raise money for Kaiden's Big Fight - a charity they have established in their son's name.
Two-year-old Kaiden Griffin is terminally ill. He has an abnormal heart, lungs and veins and the situation is too complex for him to undergo an operation.
Kaiden's Big Fight raises money to help other families of a child with congenital heart defects.
Yesterday's event was he fourth horse ride Miss Welch, who lives in North Creake and Mr Griffin, who lives in Holt , have organised.
About 100 people attended and it hoped that around £2,000 was raised.
Miss Welch said: 'I want to thank everyone who supported us. It's been amazing.
'The charity has recently helped a couple take their little boy to Disneyland, which is nice as people did the same for us last year, and we've given money to another family to help them go on days out and make memories before their little girl who has a risky operation coming up.'
She added: 'This will be the final horse ride as they take a lot of time to organise and we want to spend that time instead with Kaiden, but we will keep doing other things for the charity.
'Kaiden is happy and his condition hasn't changed recently. We don't know how long he has left, It could be a few months, or it could be a few years.
'We just want to make sure he enjoys every day and make special memories.'
