A one-year-old child has suffered serious injuries following a house fire in Wisbech this morning.

Emergency services were called to Lime Avenue shortly before 8.30am to reports of a property on fire.

Police said a child suffered serious injuries and has now been flown via air ambulance to Broomsfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex, for specialist treatment.

Two adults, a man in this 30s and a woman in her 20s, were also treated to at the scene for smoke inhalation.

They have since been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn with minor injuries.

Three other children, aged two, four and seven, were also in the house at the time of the fire, but did not sustain any injuries.

Police said all occupants were out of the building by the time officers arrived.

Fire investigators are working to establish the cause of the fire.

A fire engine from West Walton in Norfolk was sent to assist two crews from Cambridgeshire at the scene.
