A father and son duo have transformed a popular city centre cafe into their own vision.
The former Caffe Italia in Orford Street has been owned by dad Peter and son Justin for 18 months, and after settling in and forging trust with loyal customers, the pair have taken the step of reopening it as Our Place.
Mr Gardner Jnr, who has 12 years' experience in catering, said: 'It was time to make this place our place.
'You are looking at a reasonably priced fine dining restaurant upstairs, and a relaxed downstairs cafe. We want to make Our Place, your place. 'We have kept Caffe Italia customers, people trust us.'
They can now provide a venue for hire, such as for conferences. They will put on theme nights and have tried to create a sense of local history inside, where the walls display pictures of the surrounding area in the 30s and 50s.
