Eaton Park Miniature Railway will go full steam ahead from April 2, and then operates every Sunday and bank holiday Monday until October 8.

Trains will operate on the main line ground level track from Parkside Station, with the exception of the first Sunday of the month in May to September which will be on the raised Heritage Track from Larch End, nearest the rose garden.

Services will operate between 1pm and 5pm, weather permitting.

Fares for 2017 remain unchanged since 2006, at £1 for the Main Line and 50p for the Heritage Track.

And for the first time souvenir tickets will be issued.

A number of charity days are also planned, with Whit Monday raising funds for the EACH Nook Appeal, August Bank Holiday Monday fundraising for the Lord Mayor’s Fund and the final Sunday will be the traditional day for Children in Need.

New additions this year are member-built locomotives, put together by the volunteers who help run the railway.

And the society’s battery electric Warship is also back in time for the first public running after an extensive overhaul.

Chairman Barry Fane said: “We always look forward to Easter and the better weather when we carry the public again.

“We are pleased to be supporting the EACH Nook Appeal again this year, in addition to our regular Children in Need day, and also a first day for the Lord Mayor’s Fund.

“This year, as an experiment, and in response to public interest, we’re opening at the beginning of the school Easter holidays, rather than the Easter weekend so there’s extra rides for all.”
