As of yesterday, 164 leverets can be found in various locations across the city, including 34 on the top floor of Chapelfield shopping centre.

The leverets were launched a week after the main GoGoHares trail, and are decorated by community groups from schools to hospital units to football clubs.

Participating schools also received a learning package, with resources to teach children using the hares as examples, for instance the biology of a hare, or how to jump like a hare in PE.

The project is part of GoGoCreate by Norfolk children's charity Break and supported by Wild in Art, the learning programme for the GoGo project working with community institutions groups.

Peter Marron, project coordinator said: 'I'm really proud actually. It's an extremely rewarding project - it's now the chance for everybody including me to enjoy it.

'I have been working on the project for 18 months and it's brilliant to see the sculptures in and around Norwich bringing so much joy to the public.

'Hearing so many great stories behind the inspiration of each sculpture is truly inspiring and the thought and work that has gone into each one is hopefully a brilliant legacy for the charity Break and the participants.

'I think it touches everyone at some stage or other. There's this sense of pride in Norwich and Norfolk at the moment about it.'

There is also a souvenir poster available that shows the location and photographs of all leverets.

Sheridan Smith, intu Chapelfield marketing manager, said: 'It's so exciting because when you see people coming up an children suddenly seeing it and running over, and they are all looking for their school's design - I say children but it's really not just children.'

The project has been sponsored by Pensthorpe Natural Park.

Jo Artherton, Pensthorpe spokesman, said: 'We are delighted to be the proud sponsors of the GoGoCreate learning programme, which perfectly matches our core values.'
