An accountancy apprentice in Norwich working at his old school has made the final five in a national award.

Charlie Atkins has made the finals in the Accountancy Apprentice of the Year category in the PQ Awards.

While Mr Atkins described himself as a 'bit of a show off' at school, he knuckled down ahead of his GCSEs and went onto study at sixth form.

He started a career in the NHS, but applied to Right for Success, which now runs his former school, Sewell Park Academy.

He said: 'Right for Success has invested a lot of time, money and effort into my apprenticeship. The trust has really helped me find out who I am as an individual, what I am capable of and have really helped me gain confidence in my own ability.'

He will now find out if he won the award at a ceremony at London's Café de Paris on February 20, where he will be accompanied by the trust's director of finance Phil Beecher.
