A company which helps everyday life tick in the Great Yarmouth area is flying in to help sponsor the resort's new air show.

Norse is the first platinum sponsor of the Haven Great Yarmouth Air Show being held on June 15 to 18 next year.

The Norfolk-based company, which has a £250m-plus turnover and employs more than 10,000 people, is a major provider of services in the Great Yarmouth borough - from refuse collection to school transport.

As part of the deal Norse will provide 'ground crew' services to the major new event including park and ride buses from sites to the north and south of the town, along with waste removal, public toilet management, car park stewarding, security and street cleaning.

Air show director of corporate affairs and sponsorship, Ian Hacon said: 'We are delighted to have such a prestigious company on board as our first platinum sponsor.

'They are great supporters of the local community where they provide a range of services that are the background to everyday life.'

The show will feature military and civilian displays over two evening and two afternoon sessions - with grandstand views from all along the Golden Mile seafront. It is expected to attract up to 300,000 people and provide a £10m boost to the local economy.

Nicola Holden, commercial director of GYB Services, said: 'Events such as the Great Yarmouth Air Show attract visitors from across the country, and play a vital role in helping the local economy and promoting the area.

'The Norse group of companies, including GYB services and Great Yarmouth Norse, works closely with Great Yarmouth Borough Council and we are delighted to support the 2017 Air Show.'

The event is being run by the Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement Area Limited (GYTABIA) in its drive to attract more visitors and spending power.

GYTABIA chairman Gareth Brown said: 'The new air show is really gaining momentum, including support from business sponsors who are vital to making this exciting event happen.

Air show director Asa Morrison added: 'This is great news. We are looking forward to working with Norse on developing the air show to the benefit of our community, business and our visitors.'

National holiday company Haven, which has four parks in the Great Yarmouth area, is the main sponsor of the show.
