Pronouncing our unique Norfolk town and village names can be a challenge for visitors to the area, however a brand new initiative is hoping to tackle this problem.

Wymondham, Postwick, Happisburgh - just a few of the place names that non-Norfolk dwellers have difficulty with.

But no more.

A new initiative called 'Say it Right in Norfolk' is being introduced today and will include the repainting of many Norfolk signs to show instructions on how to pronounce them.

Other ideas soon to be trialled in the area include handing out leaflets to coach parties on how to properly say place names, and giving out 'stickers of shame' to anyone who is heard mispronouncing a town/village.

The initiative launches today (April 1).
