A Norfolk road was closed for more than three hours after a car crashed into a telegraph pole.

The accident happened in Hale Road, Ashill, between Dereham and Watton, at about 9.15am this morning (Sunday).

A single vehicle hit the pole and landed in a ditch. The driver had minor injuries.

A Norfolk police spokesman said: 'The telegraph pole was broken in half with the cables hanging. The road was closed while the electricity company was called out to check it was safe.'

The road reopened just after 12.30pm. It is believed some telephone lines were affected.
