Norfolk holidaymakers to benefit from more than 300 miles of roadworks being lifted over bank holiday

Holidaymakers will be pleased to know that more than 300 miles of roadworks are being lifted this bank holiday weekend.
Highways England said almost 98pc of motorways and strategic A roads will be free of roadworks from May 26 to May 30.
The move should ease congestion on the roads as thousands of motorists take advantage of the good weather.
In the east of England, around 27 miles of roadworks will be completed, and a further ten miles suspended by 6am on Friday.
It includes two miles of lane closures on the A12 near Great Yarmouth and the A12 near Beccles.

Two miles of lane closures on the A14 near Cambridge are also due to be completed by Friday.
Highways England said it will allow for speed restrictions to be lifted and more lanes to open.

Some of the roadworks being lifted include:
• M1 junctions 20 to 21, near Leicester - Carriageway resurfacing.
• A14 junction 27, near Huntingdon - Lane closure for junction improvement works.
• A1 junction 17 A1M, near Peterborough - 24 hour lane closure for junction improvements.
• M1 junctions 21a to 22, near Leicester - Horticultural works.
The roadworks being completed include:
• M11 junctions 12 to 13, near Cambridge - Lane closure for burst water main repairs.
• A14, near Cambridge - Lane closure for access to communications boxes at roadside
