Norfolk Gliding Club launches pin-up girl calendar
A south Norfolk flying club has paid homage to the pin-up girls of the second world war by releasing a charity calendar.
Officials from the Norfolk Gliding Club, based at a former bombing station at Tibenham, near Diss, have produced the 'tantalising take-offs' calendar for 2011, which will raise money for a cancer charity.
It comes after the club launched a nude Calendar Girls-style calendar last year, which raised money for the restoration of an old glider.
Organisers have this year pledged to donate 1 of every sale to Cancer Research UK with a further 2 going to help train young gliding Cadets.
Eric Radcliffe, sales and marketing officer for the Norfolk Gliding Club, said the 2011 edition was much less 'risque' than the previous year and used more classic aircraft.
Volunteer models from across the region posed alongside gliders and historic planes including a second world war Mustang P-51, Tiger Moth, a Stearman trainer and a 'Little Nellie Wallis' autogyro at airfields at Tibenham and Hardwick.
'We used all sorts of kit and we spread our wings this year. This is more appealing to more clubs, organisations and people. It will put funds towards the training of our Cadets and raise money for breast cancer research,' said Mr Radcliffe.
