A construction worker from Norfolk has secured one of the housebuilding industry's most sought-after awards for his outstanding work on a high-profile housing development in Northrepps.

Benn Nappin, a senior site manager with Norwich partnership housing developer Lovell, has been presented with a Pride in the Job Quality Award, known as the housebuilding industry's 'Oscars', for his outstanding management of the company's successful Gallus Fields development.

Organised by the NHBC (National House-Building Council), the awards recognise site managers who achieve the very highest standards. This year, across the UK, only around 450 winners were selected to be honoured in this year's awards from more than 16,000 eligible site managers.

Benn, who lives in Costessey, Norwich, said: 'This award reflects the hard work and expertise of the entire team working on the Northrepps scheme. Throughout, our focus has been to deliver homes of the highest quality, so it's very pleasing that the exacting standards we've been able to achieve on site have been recognised by the NHBC.'

Lovell has built 33 homes for open market sale at Gallus Fields, as well as eight affordable properties for Victory Housing Trust. Gallus Fields has proved highly popular with purchasers, with strong demand meaning that just three homes are remaining.

Congratulating Benn, Lovell regional director Simon Medler said: 'To win a Pride in the Job Quality Award requires the utmost levels of professionalism and represents a huge achievement for any site manager. I'm delighted to see Benn's superb management of the Gallus Fields site recognised.

'It's particularly pleasing in that Benn began his construction career as an apprentice with Lovell, making the move into site management with the company's support and encouragement.'

The Pride in the Job awards are independently assessed with winners required to demonstrate consistently high standards at every stage of their project's build programme, showing meticulous attention to detail, excellent leadership, technical expertise and robust health and safety processes.

As well as undergoing spot checks on the day-to-day running of their site, each site manager is assessed across 37 areas including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and quality controls.

Richard Hartshorn, regional director for NHBC, the UK's leading standards setter and warranty provider for new homes, said: 'Congratulations to Benn, who should be commended for building homes of an outstanding standard in the region. For 36 years, the Pride in the Job Awards has played a pivotal role in NHBC's work to raise standards across the industry through the celebration and sharing of best practice.

'Pride in the Job recognises site managers who produce the best quality new homes, built and finished to the highest possible standards. Most importantly, homeowners who buy a Pride in the Job award-winning home benefit from a high-quality product. It's no surprise that our data shows Pride in the Job winning sites have higher levels of customer satisfaction, as these homes are without doubt among the best the UK has to offer. On behalf of everyone at NHBC, I would like to congratulate Benn on this fantastic achievement.'
