A Norfolk band is hoping to go for gold with an Olympic anthem in honour of this year's Games.

Five piece band The Colour have written London's Calling and are now in discussions about performing the song at Olympic-related events.

Drummer Scott Field, 39, said: 'We wanted to do something big and bold for the Olympics, it's really snowballing.'

Officials from Norwich City Council are discussing a live performance of the track during the Olympic torch's overnight party in Chapelfield Gardens on July 4.

The band is also currently in negotiations with organisers at the Olympic Park to perform London's Calling during events at the Games.

Lead singer James Poole said London's Calling is 'a party vibe anthem'.

Mr Poole, 24, grew up near Great Yarmouth, but now lives in London, said: 'It's the biggest event in the world and we're lucky enough to host it this year. London's Calling is about getting everyone on board.

'There's still a lot of mixed feelings about the Olympics, especially in London. Not everyone's entirely convinced, but it could be the biggest show of our time - so hopefully the song represents the opportunity of the Games.'

The Colour - so called because of performance art created at their gigs - also includes guitarist Adam North, from Long Stratton, bass guitarist Rob Forder, from East Harling, and Watton's Alex Jones on keyboard and guitar.
