One of the most popular sportsmen in Britain will be making a knockout appearance in Norfolk when he helps to spread the word about a team of life-saving volunteers.

Frank Bruno is to be the guest of honour at the NARS Norfolk Show Ball at the Norfolk Showground on Friday, June 24.

The former heavyweight boxer will be helping to promote the work of Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS), which is hosting the ball ahead of the Royal Norfolk Show to raise funds and to heighten awareness of its work.

Last year NARS responded to about 400 calls with its volunteer doctors and paramedics providing care to people who suffer serious injury or acute medical illness.

Lord Russell Baker of Little Moulton, NARS patron, said: 'The 2016 NARS Show Ball will be quite spectacular. We are arranging a fabulous evening of fine dining, excellent wines and great live musical entertainment. We are very excited about Frank being there and have no doubt he will help to make it a very memorable evening.'

The former boxing world champion's appearance has been sponsored by Norwich-based NR Care, with director Rebekah Bedingfield saying she was delighted the company was linked to the ball to help support NARS.

Tickets are £75 and tables can be booked for parties of eight, 10 or 12. Email bookings@softleyevents.co.uk or call 01603 757658.
