Train services between Norwich and Cromer were disrupted for several hours today after a bus hit the Cromer Road railway bridge in North Walsham.
But no damage was caused to the bridge.
It's unknown whether any passengers were on the bus when it happened, at about 10.30am, but Norfolk police said there were no injuries.
A police spokesman said: 'The bus scraped the side of the bridge and very minor damage was caused. Minor damage was also caused to the bus.'
The bus was private hire, and was not travelling on a regular route, the spokesman added.
A Network Rail spokesman said: 'We sent engineers out to assess the bridge but they didn't find any damage to the structure. The line re-opened at 12.30pm.
'Bridge strikes cost the taxpayer millions of pounds and delay thousands of passengers every year, so we'd like to remind drivers to check the height of their vehicles before passing under any bridges.'
