North Walsham's new mayor is Vivienne Uprichard.
Mrs Uprichard, 66, who lives in the town's Harmer Close, served as deputy to 2010-2011 mayor Anne Rose and has been a town councillor for four years.
She was elected at Tuesday's annual meeting of North Walsham Town Council where Dave Robertson was voted in as her deputy.
Originally from Birmingham, Mrs Uprichard, who has just become a Liberal Democrat member of North Norfolk District Council, moved to North Walsham about eight years ago.
She had previously lived in Germany for 18 years where her husband Adrian worked as a gardener with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. While there, Mrs Uprichard taught English as a foreign language. She has two daughters and a son and moved to the area to be near two grand-daughters living in Worstead.
