A leading scientist has been announced as the new director for the Norwich-based Institute of Food Research.

Professor Ian Charles, who is currently director of the ithree institute at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, will take up the post in May following the retirement of Professor David Boxer. Professor Charles will also lead the programme to develop the UK's new Centre for Food and Health at the Norwich Research Park. He has more than 30 years' experience in academic and commercial research and is a founding member of The Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Research at University College London.

'There is a unique set of resources and expertise at the Norwich Research Park enabling the new Centre for Food and Health to be a world-leading innovation hub for food and health research,' he said.
