A familiar face is returning to Cromer as its new vicar.

The vacant post will be filled later this year by the Rev Dr James Porter, who was curate in the town a decade ago.

Dr Porter had four years in the town as curate from 2005 to 2009. He is currently rector at St Mary's in West Horsley near Guildford in Surrey.

Dr Porter will be back in Cromer later in the year to fill the role left by the Rev Canon David Court after his elevation to Bishop of Grimsby following 11 years service in the resort.

A Cromer church spokesman said Dr Porter and his wife, Katie, and their family will be coming to the town in mid-2015.
