Schools from across north Suffolk battled it out at an annual netball tournament.

The U13 and U14 girls teams from Ormiston Denes Academy (ODA) competed in the north Suffolk netball tournament at Bungay High School last Thursday, March 16.

The U14 girls played 'remarkably well,' according to ODA PE teacher Rebecca Martin, as they won the U14 tournament overall after three wins against Sir John Leman High School, East Point Academy and Benjamin Britten and a draw against Bungay High. Francesca Catchpole and Destiny Jones formed an excellent defensive team, with star player Ellie Shepherd dominating on the wings and Anya Boags excelling in a different position.

'This U14 tournament was the first netball win for ODA in many years, making this result extra special,' Miss Martin said.

The U13 team played well against some strong opposition, securing a draw against Pakefield High and narrow defeats in their other games.
