A community store has come together to raise more than £1,000 to help buy a new bike for Tobias Hill - a boy born with a one-in-a-billion chromosome condition.

Tobias's specialised bike was stolen and vandalised last year and upon hearing this the team at Central England Co-operative's Mulbarton Food Store, in Cuckoofield Lane, decided to raise money to help replace the bike.

The store organised a series of fund-raising events and managed to raise £1,001.75.

Tobias's father Chris Hill said: 'I am quite overwhelmed with the way the local community has rallied around to help.

'It is encouraging to know that many people do care about the local community.'

Tobias lives with a chromosome condition which is thought to affect just one in every billion people.

There are only seven people in the world known to have the condition, which affects his development.
