North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb raised more than 7,000 for local charities after completing a sponsored bike ride from Norwich to Arnhem with former Norwich City star Jeremy Goss.

Mr Lamb raised 3,397 for the Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind, 2,613.75 for the Benjamin Foundation, 1,140 for Well Hospital and 233 for the Wells Maritime Harbour Trust.

Reflecting upon the ride Mr Lamb said 'The first day from Norwich to Harwich was the hottest day of the year! The second day from the Hook of Holland to Arnhem was 107 miles – so pretty gruelling but really worthwhile.

'I am really grateful to all the people who sponsored me for these brilliant organisations.

'Together we have raised a lot of money which I hope will be of some help in the important work that they are all doing. It was quite a challenge but also great fun. I have enormous admiration for Jeremy Goss who got all the way to Milan,' he added.
