A motorist was taken to hospital with a neck injury this morning following a multi vehicle crash outside RAF Lakenheath.

Emergency services were called at about 7am following the collision between a Mitsubishi car, Volkswagen Polo, and Peugeot car on the A1065 Brandon Road.

Firefighters from Brandon and Methwold were required to release one of the drivers, who was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital at Bury St Edmunds with what have been described as non life threatening injuries.

The main road, near Gate 1 of the US Air Force base was cleared by 8am.

The incident is the second serious three vehicle accident to happen near RAF Lakenheath this month. Sheniz Russell, 21, of Crown Road, Mundford, died the day after her blue Ford Escort was involved in a collision between a silver Suzuki car and Ford Mondeo at about 12.30pm on February 7.
