A mother and daughter were injured after two cars collided with each other in Kessingland, near Lowestoft last night.

The 42-year-old and 22-year-old suffered minor arm injuries after the yellow VW Beetle they were in collided with a stolen white Astra in the High Street just before 7.30pm.

Both women, who live locally, were taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston, for treatment.

After the crash the male driver of the stolen Astra drove off, leaving behind a car bumper.

He was in his early 20s and had a large build.

Police are now trying to find the driver and the stolen car.

PC Denise Baldry, said: 'We carried out a search of the area for the Astra, but to no avail.

'However, we were able to locate its owner at his nearby home but he reported the vehicle as being stolen.

'We are looking to speak with anyone who saw the crash, the Astra then being driven off or anyone who finds an abandoned old-style, X-registered white Astra saloon.'
