A couple and their young child had to be rescued after being trapped in their car at Beach Road in Brancaster.

Geoff Needham, from Hunstanton RNLI, said: 'They had become stuck by the tidal flooding of the road, and the father had waded back to the golf club and raised the alarm.

'Hunstanton lifeboat launched and proceeded with good speed to Brancaster to assist.

'On arrival at Brancaster the crew were informed that the tide had receded enough, and that the coastguard team had got mother and child to safety, 'The lifeboat was stood down.'

The RNLI is reminding visitors that roads leading down to beaches are liable to tidal flooding.

The rescue happened at about 9pm on Wednesday, April 12.
