More than £45,000 has been raised to help Norfolk's needy elderly heat their homes.
Anna Douglas from the Norfolk Community Foundation, which runs the EDP-backed appeal with Age UK Norfolk, said: 'This time last year we had just over £10,000 and the year before £30,000 at this point in the campaign so people are really digging deep this year.
'We have been amazed by the generosity of Norfolk people in supporting the campaign. Like last year, we are experiencing an unusually mild winter, but the vulnerable elderly still feel the cold.
'We expect demand for support to continue into the new year as people review their financial situation after Christmas and realise that they have little money left in their meter or have used more oil and are worried about how they will pay their bills.'
Last year's appeal helped more than 100 households across Norfolk. As well as providing money towards fuel bills, grants were also made towards the cost of new cookers, a new boiler and repairs to central heating.
The foundation is appealing for better-off households, which receive the non-means tested winter fuel payment, to donate it to help those who are struggling.
Even if you don't receive a winter fuel payment, you can still make a donation of any size.
