Residents in Attleborough will receive a briefing next week on the town's masterplan for new homes.

Breckland Council will provide a presentation at a Attleborough Community Team (ACT) meeting on May 26 over plans for 4,000 new houses in the town over the 15 years.

A masterplan, compiled by URS Scott Wilson, was completed last month.

Richard Middleton, chairman of ACT, which presented a petition signed by more than 3,500 people calling for the district council to halt new development until they had addressed infrastructure shortfalls, welcomed the meeting which had been organised by Adrian Stasiak, Breckland Council deputy leader and Attleborough member.

'We have some serious concerns that the masterplan does not adequately address the key infrastructure issues but at least we will have a chance to discuss our worries,' he said.

The meeting will be held in Attleborough Town Hall at 7pm on May 26.
