The Great Yarmouth and Gorleston lifeboats were call out at about 1-55am on Christmas Day after a man was spotted in the sea between the Wellington Pier and the Britannia Pier.
The inshore lifeboat Seahorse IV, crewed by helmsman Andy Mason, Jason Edwards and Kye Rodriguez, was on the scene within eight minutes.
Shortly after, the lifeboat was asked to stand down by the police as the man in the sea had been rescued.
The all weather lifeboat Samarbeta, which was also called out, was ready to let go its moorings when it was also asked to stand down.
