Police are appealing for information after a 22-year-old man was assaulted and robbed of his wallet in Carlton Colville last night. (Sunday, December 29)

The man was near the entrance to Chaukers Crescent at around 9.50pm when he was approached by two men, who are described as white, in their late teens to early 20s, about 6ft tall, wearing dark hooded tops with the hoods up and dark tracksuit bottoms.

One of the men punched the 22-year-old, causing swelling and reddening to his cheek. The victim was grabbed by his clothing and threatened before his wallet was taken from his pocket.

The wallet is black with the outline of a VW camper van on it, and contained a relatively small amount of cash and cards.

Both offenders, one possibly with a Northern accent, then ran away.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the robbery to come forward if they think they saw the incident or the offenders.

Officers would also like to speak to anyone with information about the two involved.
