A man in his seventies was airlifted by the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) yesterday after he sustained a serious hand injury following an industrial incident in Thurlton.

The incident occurred in Beccles Road and the clinical team, Dr Matt Warner and East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) critical care paramedic Andy Downes, were flown to the scene by Captain Dave Surtees.

The crew landed in a paddock next to where the accident occurred.

The pair worked closely with the EEAST ambulance crew who were already there providing initial treatment.

The patient was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further assessment and treatment. His injury was described as life-changing.
