FIREFIGHTERS had to cut the roof off a car wreckage to free a trapped casualty.
Two crews from Lowestoft and a rescue vehicle from Great Yarmouth were called out following reports of a road traffic collision in Green Lane, Somerleyton, just after 11.15am this morning (Monday).
The crews were scrambled to the scene following a single-vehicle accident in which a car had collided with a tree and careered into a field.
Firefighters removed the roof using hydraulic cutting equipment and freed the man, aged in his 30s, by noon.
He suffered 'moderate shoulder, chest and head injuries' according to a spokesman for the ambulance service and was airlifted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
