He is the master of magic, but his latest trip to Norfolk is no illusion.

Magician Paul Daniels will be appearing at Spixworth Village Hall on September 1, but organisers are having trouble selling tickets because people do not believe that the man himself will be doing the show to raise funds to refurbish the play area.

When told of the rumours that an impersonator would be taking to the stage, Mr Daniels said: “Why would I not be in Spixworth? A few years ago I moved to a tiny village on the banks of the River Thames and was asked to do a show in a village hall.

“I enjoyed myself so much that every year I do half a dozen shows in such venues.”

Hall chairman Lynne Jeff-rey said: “It is brilliant that Paul is coming to Spixworth. We just need people to believe it is really him! We have sold 30 tickets so far but have another 150 to sell.”
