A 21-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed at an address in Oulton Road, Lowestoft, in the early hours of yesterday.

Police were called at about 12.50am to reports the teenager had been stabbed in the back. The 16-year-old was taken to James Paget University Hospital, Gorleston, where he received treatment - stitches - and was discharged a short time later.

Two men, a 21-year-old and a 28-year-old, were arrested at the scene.

Stephen Powderham, 21, of the town's Briarwood Road has been charged with wounding and is being held in custody at Lowestoft Police Station pending an appearance at Lowestoft Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis. He was subsequently charged with this offence and has been bailed to appear at Lowestoft Magistrates Court on March 15.
