About 250 people attended Lowestoft's civic carol service this afternoon at St Margaret's Church in Hollingsworth Road.

The service was jointly hosted by Peter Collecott, chairman of Waveney District Council, and the mayor of Lowestoft Tod Sullivan and among the large crowd were local MPs Peter Aldous and Dr Therese Coffey and civic dignitaries from other Suffolk councils.

Pupils from the Ashley and Warren Schools and the Lowestoft Signing Choir took part in the carol service which saw festive favourites Hark the Herald Angels Sing and We Three Kings get the audience in a Christmas mood.

Mr Sullivan said: 'It was brilliant. It was a really good service. It is a big church to fill and it was full.'
