A Norfolk youth football team has received world class backing after their kit was sponsored by sports car manufacturer Lotus.

Twenty two members of the Wymondham Town United FC under 8s football team were treated to a tour of the company's headquarters at Hethel.

The behind the scenes factory tour on Wednesday evening came after the sports car firm sponsored the team for their first season of matches in the Norfolk Youth Combination and South Norfolk youth leagues.

Officials from the youth team spoke of their delight at having the Lotus branding on their shirts and presented a signed Wymondham Town shirt to the company.

Mark Ahier, team coach, said it was nice to see a world class firm supporting the local community. He added that the sponsorship would help towards upgrading facilities such as improving the drainage on their pitches at Kett's Park, Wymondham.

'The under 8s are very proud to have the Lotus badge on their kit in what is their first season of football.

It has been really exciting to visit the Lotus factory and the children have enjoyed experiencing how the Lotus cars are put together,' he said.

Gino Rosato, director of corporate operations for Group Lotus, added: 'Lotus is delighted to be supporting talented young footballers in the local community. Lotus is a large global company operating in many countries around the world and we are very privileged to have such a good relationship with the community around our headquarters in Norfolk. We would like to wish the Wymondham Town Under 8s team every success this season.'
