A flight from Norwich to Edinburgh was diverted to Stansted Airport due to technical issues.

Loganair flight LM301 developed a problem relating to its flaps soon after take off from Norwich Airport this morning.

An emergency was declared at 7.32am with various services called to the scene.

Roads around the airport were closed, however emergency services were later stood down.

A spokesperson for Loganair said: “Flight LM301, carrying 23 passengers and three crew, departed Norwich at 7am bound for Edinburgh when a flap indication caution alert signalled shortly after take-off.

“The captain was diverted to London Stansted where the aircraft landed safely - met by emergency services as per standard procedure.”

The spokesman said passengers disembarked “as normal” before being transferred onto the 10am Stansted to Dundee service which stopped in Edinburgh.

“Loganair would like to apologise to passengers for the inconvenience caused,” said the spokesman.

The flight was diverted to Stansted as it has a longer runway.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said appliances from Sprowston, Earlham, Carrow, Hethersett and Wroxham were mobilised to the incident at Norwich Airport, however their services were not required.
