People are being asked for their views on how a 26-mile footpath, loved by cyclists and walkers, can be improved over the next decade.

Marriott's Way, which stretches from Norwich to Aylsham along the routes of two disused railway lines, is part of the network of Norfolk Trails.

And Norfolk County Council is working with Norwich City Council, Broadland District Council, South Norfolk District Council, Sustrans and the Norwich Fringe Project to draw up an improvement plan for the route.

Public consultation about potential improvements over the next 10 years begins this week, with a series of drop-in events and an online survey.

People will be able to give their ideas on how to improve the Marriott's Way, while people can also give an opinion on the ideas that councils and partners have for the route.

Drop-in events are:

n Monday, February 16: Mile Cross – Norman Centre, Bignold Road, 2pm to 6.30pm.

n Wednesday, February 18: Reepham – Bircham Centre, Market Place, 2pm to 6.30pm.

n Friday, February 20: Drayton – Drayton Village Hall, Pond Lane, 2pm to 6.20pm.

n Monday, February 23: Costessey – Costessey Centre, Longwater Lane, 2pm to 6.30pm.

n Wednesday, February 25: Aylsham – Town Hall, Market Square, 2pm to 6.30pm.

Each drop-in session will cover topics including: surfacing, lighting, information about the trail, vegetation management and other features.

Meanwhile, the online survey will run from this Saturday for a month. A link to the online survey can be found at www.norfolktrails.co.uk
