The EU referendum has been described as an opportunity to restore Britain's independence by a leading Vote Leave campaigner.
Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg claimed Brexit supporters were close to a 'magnificent victory' in this week's vote. Mr Rees-Mogg, who was speaking at a meeting at Holt Rugby Club last night, described the EU as a 'failed state with a failed economic policy.' He urged young people considering a vote to remain to differentiate between Europe and the EU.
Mr Rees-Mogg, who is a member of the Treasury Select Committee, said: 'The EU has created massive unemployment and destroyed people's chances of getting on in life. The fundamental question in the referendum is are you European or British and I know which I am. We are close to a magnificent victory and to getting our independence back.'
East of England MEP and Norfolk farmer Stuart Agnew joined Mr Rees-Mogg at the meeting, which was organised by the Vote Leave campaign.
