Plans to build more than 150 homes on the edge of a South Norfolk village have been unanimously refused, in what has been described as a 'clear-cut decision'.
More than 120 objections were lodged against an application from property developers Gladman to build 165 homes on land off Burgate Lane in Poringland.
The bid came before South Norfolk Council's planning committee on Wednesday, where members unanimously voted to refuse the application.
Christopher Kemp, district councillor for the Cringleford ward, said: 'This is one of the more clear-cut decisions we have ever had to make.'
No representative from Gladman attended the meeting to argue the applicant's case, after objections were heard from Poringland Parish Council and the Burgate Lane Action Group.
Alison Thomas, councillor for the Long Stratton ward, added: 'As the developer has remained elusive, we have to go by the officer's recommendations.'
The officer had recommended the plan's refusal.
