A rethink to a multi-million pound traffic shake-up to part of the city centre has been given the green light by councillors.
A previously approved scheme for the Prince of Wales Road and Rose Lane area of the city was back in front of councillors this week, after transport bosses realised the original proposals would be too costly.
However, a revised scheme has now been approved by the Norwich highways agency committee, which will see the current traffic direction of Eastbourne Place reversed.
Originally, proposals had called for the road to be closed, with a right turn installed off Mountergate towards the railway station.
Under the new proposals, this right turn will instead be achieved where Eastbourne Place meets Prince of Wales Road.
The new scheme, which was approved by committee members, will also see widened pavements, a new link between Rose Lane and Prince of Wales Road and the closure of St Faths Lane to traffic.
