Two new leisure facilities have been rubber-stamped by councillors, including the first phase of replacing the Splash swimming centre in Sheringham.

The plans to replace the 30-year-old facility with a new £10.7m leisure and sports centre were agreed by North Norfolk District Council this year.

Councillors have now agreed to commit just over £1m to the early phases of delivering the new leisure centre.

The plans will see Splash replaced with a more conventional swimming pool, rather than the current offering, which the council says was necessary to secure funding from Sports England for the project.

Meanwhile, members also rubber-stamped plans for a new artificial grass football pitch in North Walsham,

The new pitch, which will come at a cost of £860,000 and will be part-funded by the Football Association, will be built on the grounds of North Walsham High School, the school attended by professional footballer Lauren Hemp.
