Almost 80pc of Norfolk tourism businesses are feeling positive about the future, but do have concerns about the industry, this year's EDP Larking Gowen Tourism Survey will reveal.

The views of almost 250 of the region's tourism businesses – which have been voiced in an online survey – will be under the spotlight at a survey launch during British Tourism Week next month.

Larking Gowen senior partner Chris Scargill, who will present the findings, said that while 78pc of businesses were positive about the future, there were specific concerns for the industry.

'The industry is very aware that we are in the middle of a difficult trading period and that there is a great deal of pressure on spending. As a result of that they are adjusting their offering and having to work very hard to make sure it keeps up with expectations.'

But he said businesses were feeling positive as they had been taking action at the right time to anticipate the sensitivities in the market.

The survey, now in its fifth year, asked businesses specific questions about barriers to employment, VAT rates and other concerns for the industry.

Mr Scargill said they wanted to attract more than 100 tourism businesses to the launch which would provide useful information and demonstrate that individuals were not alone in their thinking.

He added that there were already a range of businesses, from small to large from across the sector, signed up for the event.

The EDP Larking Gowen Tourism Survey will be launched at a breakfast seminar event at Top of the Terrace at Norwich City Football Club on Tuesday, March 13 from 7.45am to 10am.

All those attending the event will receive the survey brochure with data and analysis.

The event will include breakfast, a survey presentation and the guest speaker is Norwich City Football Club chief executive David McNally.
