A man was arrested in the early hours of this morning following a break in at a petrol station in Hemsby overnight.

The incident happened sometime between 9pm last night and 5.35am this morning (May 25/26), when the service station was broken into and a number of cigarettes were stolen.

Police officers visited the petrol station, and their enquiries led them to arrest a 39-year-old man from the local area on suspicion of burglary. Items were recovered and seized.

The man has been taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre where he will be questioned later today.
