Fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is hoping to open a new restaurant in Norwich after recent closures.

The outlets on Dereham Road and Prince of Wales Road have shut, with a spokesman saying today they closed for 'commercial reasons'.

The Prince of Wales Road store shut in April, with the initial reason given as 'essential maintenance work'.

KFC then confirmed earlier in May that the Prince of Wales Road outlet had closed permanently.

And a spokesman said on Tuesday that a new KFC restaurant would now be coming to Norwich, although did not give a location.

'It's very early days at the moment, but we are excited to be working on plans to open a new restaurant in Norwich,' he said. 'We're currently looking for the right location and hope to share some good news in the future.'

There are three KFC restaurants in Norwich at Chapelfield, Mile Cross Lane on the ring road and at Longwater.
