Police were called to reports of a theft from a jewellers' shop in Great Yarmouth.

Initial reports were that two men entered Barry's Antiques Jewellery shop, in King Street, just before noon today (July 12) and stole some jewellery before running out.

Sheena Nichols, whose husband owns the shop, described the events as being horrendous.

She said two men wearing balaclava came into the shop. One man went in and grabbed a three chain pads and one ring pad from a window displays, while the other stood holding the door.

She said she saw them and knew something was going to happen.

Mrs Nichols said: 'I was on my way back to the shop, walking up King Street, where I saw from a distance two men crossing the road towards our shop, wearing balaclavas.

'I shouted and ran back to the shop which they had already fled down the alley way and got away in a car.'

She added: 'They were in and out in 12 seconds.'

She said that it happened in broad daylight so said someone must have seen something.

A spokesman for Norfolk Police said: 'We are investigating a theft at Barry's Antiques on King Street, Yarmouth. We were called to the address today (July 12) at about 11.45am following reports two men had entered the store and taken a number of jewellery items.
