Plastic bag sales have raised thousands of pounds for a Norfolk and Waveney cancer charity.
The Big C organisation received a donation of £6,923 from Jarrold Retail which made the money through selling 5p carrier bags in 2015-16.
Jarrold decided to donate all of its proceeds from the new Government charge until the end of 2016 as the change coincided with the Big C's 35th anniversary.
Carole Slaughter, Jarrold marketing manager, said: 'We had no idea how much people's carrier bag usage would change and therefore how much we'd be able to donate.'
Dr Chris Bushby, Big C chief executive officer, said, 'We are extremely grateful to receive the funds, which are so vital to be able to continue the work we do locally through our centres, services and the pioneering research taking place on our doorstep at the Norwich Research Park.'
