Inquest opens into death of boy killed in Caister crash

An inquest has been opened today into the death of a 15-year-old boy killed in a car crash at Caister, near Great Yarmouth.

The inquest in Norwich heard Ryan Youngman, of Middleton Road, Gorleston was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene of the crash in High Street, Caister, in the early hours of February 2.

His body was indentified by his mother, Lesley Hughes, a nurse.

Ryan had been the front-seat passenger in a car containing three other youths which crashed into a brick wall.

No other vehicles were involved, but their car was being pursued by the police.

A post-mortem examination carried out by Professor Richard Ball found Ryan had suffered multiple soft tissue and bone damage as a result of the crash.

An investigation has been launched by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
