Hundreds of festival goers set up camp in the rain last night for the start of a popular beer festival.

More than 70 ales and ciders are on offer to taste at the Angel Inn in Larling this weekend for one of the largest beer festivals in Norfolk.

The beer has come from as far afield as the Orkey Islands in Scotland to St Austell in Cornwall and includes a number of different local ales, including the Elmtree Brewery in Snetterton and Fat Cat in Norwich.

The 19th Angel beer festival will continue from 11am to midnight today and tomorrow and there will be live music from 9pm.

Landlord Andrew Stammers said the event was going well and hundreds of people were camping outside the pub, off the A11 between Thetford and Snetterton, despite the showery weather.

'It is going very well indeed and we have had lots of support,' he said.

Music will be provided by Mother Black Cat tonight and Backtrackin on Saturday.
