Traffic cops took to social media with a quiz to see how many people could guess how many unlicensed and uninsured drivers they nabbed in March.

Recent captures include a white van taken off the road in Swaffham for having no insurance yesterday.

It joined a pick-up truck seized earlier in the day in Acle, after officers found its insurance expired in February, in the pound.

Police can seize any vehicle which is being driven by an unlicensed driver or without insurance at the roadside.

As well as a traffic offence report (TOR), meaning a trip to court and a fine with points on their licence; drivers also face a release fee of £200 and a £20 a day storage charge to get their vehicle back.

Yet some still risk it. A silver hatchback was seized in Great Yarmouth yesterday after officers found its driver had cancelled their insurance policy two months ago.

It's been a similar story in Suffolk, where officers seized 122 vehicles last month.
