Anglia One, the air ambulance serving Norfolk and Suffolk, was called to help a 46-year-old man who fell in his house injuring his spine in Isaacs Road, Cobholm.

The aircraft, operated by East Anglian Air Ambulance, was called because of the high level of pain the patient was suffering and arrived in Great Yarmouth at 12.42pm today landing on waste ground close to the scene.

The EAAA crew of Dr Neil Slabbert and East of England Ambulance NHS Trust critical care paramedic Andy Downes assessed him before administering pain relief and sedating him.

He was then escorted to Gorleston's James Paget Hospital in a road ambulance.

His condition on arrival was described as serious.

Mr Downes said: 'In helping this patient, we worked closely with the fire crews on scene to extricate him from a first floor window.'
